Fully washed Coffee
is coffee that has been processed using a method in which the outer skin (exocarp), pulp (mesocarp), and the sticky mucilage layer surrounding the bean are completely removed using mechanical pulping, controlled fermentation, and thorough washing with water before the beans are dried.
In this process, water plays a central role in separating the fruit layers from the coffee seed (bean), resulting in a clean parchment-covered bean that is then dried to safe moisture levels before hulling.
Coffee cherries that are pulped shortly after harvesting
Beans that undergo controlled fermentation to break down mucilage
Beans that are thoroughly washed with clean water to remove all remaining fruit residues
Coffee that is dried only after complete removal of mucilage.
